Mount Nittany Health’s Dr. Scott Geiger Receives Teacher of the Year Award

Mount Nittany Health Urology provider Scott Geiger, MD was recognized as one of the Teachers of the Year at the Penn State College of Medicine, University Park Regional Campus. For his accomplishments, Geiger was recognized during a Clinical Education Partnership Retreat on February 6, 2024.

“I am honored to receive this recognition from my students,” said Geiger. “I completed my residency at the Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, and I use my own experiences to guide my teaching style. It’s incredibly rewarding to help guide medical students as they progress in their career path and training.”  

The nomination noted, “Geiger's unwavering dedication to education and his exceptional ability to foster the professional growth of his students. His passion for teaching shines through, whether in the clinic or the operating room. He is admired for his respectful and engaging approach, ensuring that students feel valued and heard. Geiger's enthusiasm for medicine and teaching enlightens and inspires his students, helping to shape the next generation of healthcare professionals.” 

“Scott is a dedicated physician,” said Christopher Hester, MD, Chief Medical Officer of Mount Nittany Physician Group. “Scott’s commitment to his students is a shining example of Mount Nittany Health’s mission of ‘Healthier people, stronger community.’”

At Mount Nittany Health, Geiger is part of a team of urologists who provide high-quality, compassionate care to the Centre Region. Geiger has a simple philosophy of care: “Do no harm and do the right thing.”

Geiger earned his medical degree from the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. Outside of work, Geiger enjoys golf, cycling, and craft beer.
