At the completion of the program, the participants should be able to:

  • Define categories of child abuse in the law
  • Recognize potential risks/indicators of child abuse/neglect
  • Describe the role of mandated reporter
  • Explain referral process and follow-up
  • Examine new concepts in the diagnosis and treatment of primary ciliary dyskinesia
  • Identify practical approaches to improving the care of children with asthma
  • Examine the diagnosis and treatment options for new and emerging infectious diseases
  • Discuss changes in the recommended immunization schedule and new vaccines
  • List the most common causes of school avoidance, self-injurious behavior and disruptive behaviors in the pediatric population
  • Identify first line evidence-based medication options for common psychiatric conditions and better document informed consent
