Specialties and Biography

Mount Nittany Health is pleased to announce that Matthew Phillips, PA-C, has joined Mount Nittany Physician Group. Matthew will work with multiple clinical areas within the health system to provide enhanced radiology procedures and greatly expand the capacity of current radiology services.

“I’m excited to bring services that will lessen the need for people in the community to travel for care,” said Matthew. “I’m thrilled to be joining the physician group at Mount Nittany Health and I look forward to building a strong foundation for us to build upon.”

Matthew received his Masters of Physician Assistant Sciences and Bachelor of Health Science from Saint Francis University in Loretto, Pennsylvania. He also attended Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center School of Radiologic Technology in Johnstown. He is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants, American Registry of Radiologic Technologies.

“We are thrilled to have Matthew joining the Mount Nittany Health team and increasing our capacity for the many procedures he’ll perform,” said Upendra Thaker, MD, FIPP, Chief Medical Officer. “His experience and talent will be a tremendous asset for patients seeking this type of care close to home. Matthew’s 15 years of experience in various local health systems includes performing a wide variety of diagnostic and treatment procedures. He works with many specialties like pulmonology, general surgery, oncology, urology, orthopedics, neurology, and more. At Mount Nittany Health, under the supervision of a physician, he’ll perform procedures such as lumbar punctures, image-guided biopsies, CT-guided disc aspiration, tube checks, and more.

Outside of work, Matthew enjoys spending time with his wife Amber who is a physical therapist. They have three children, Nathan, Cameron, and Ashtyn. The family enjoys vacationing together and outdoor activities. Matthew also volunteers with the Sacred Heart Ushers Club, a non-profit that raises funds for those in need.
