Dr. Kao earned his bachelor’s degree in a combined five-year medical program from The Pennsylvania State University, where he graduated with highest distinction. He earned his medical degree from Sidney Kimmel Medical College (formerly Jefferson Medical College) at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. He is board certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology. Dr. Kao is a fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology Allergy.
Dr. Kao served as Lieutenant Commander in the Medical Corps of the United States Navy for eight years. He was previously in private practice for 34 years, and is currently an otolaryngology provider at Mount Nittany Medical Center and Mount Nittany Health Surgical Center.
Dr. Kao and his wife have three grown children – an accountant, an architect and a teacher. In addition to spending time with family, Dr. Kao enjoys cooking and jogging when he can.
