Mount Nittany Health is pleased to recognize March 12 – 18, 2023, as Patient Safety Awareness Week. On behalf of the patients we serve, we are honored to recognize the many healthcare professionals who continually go above and beyond to provide exceptional care, while putting safety first.
In addition celebrating your successes, Patient Safety Awareness Week is a great opportunity to highlight one of the most important things we can do to ensure patient safety - Hand Hygiene. CDC researchers estimate “that if everyone routinely washed their hands, one million deaths a year could be prevented.” Mount Nittany Health is committed to support ongoing and future hand hygiene improvement efforts for the safety of all our staff, providers, patients, and families.
In addition to hand hygiene, here are a few other practices proven to improve patient safety.
Using monitoring technology.
Making sure patients understand their treatment.
Verifying all medical procedures.
Promoting a team atmosphere.
Mount Nittany Health also has a Good Catch quality and safety initiative program at our 19 locations. This is a wonderful way to recognize employees who have made a “good catch” and are helping ensure the safety of patients and visitors.
Quality and safety are indistinguishably linked and Mount Nittany Health is proud to be nationally recognized with top honors in clinical care, patient safety, and overall performance across the health system. Most recently, Mount Nittany Medical Center was ranked among Newsweek’s World’s Best Hospitals three years in a row. For four consecutive years, Mount Nittany Medical Center has received a 5-Star CMS rating, and The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval.
