Mount Nittany Health is holding a special event for its employees – “Luminary Reflection: An evening of Recognition, Remembrance, Gratitude and Hope.” At the event, the health system will take a moment to reflect upon all that’s happened throughout the pandemic and recognize the resilience demonstrated by the team.
“After two years, it’s important for us to take a collective deep breath and recognize, remember, and thank our frontline healthcare workers and our all of our employees affected by COVID-19,” said Kathleen Rhine, President and CEO, Mount Nittany Health. “Although the event is for health system staff, we welcome community members to participate by writing a message on one of the hundreds of luminaries that will be lit during the event.”
The outdoor event will be held in the hospital Healing Garden. During the event, hundreds of luminaries will light the Healing Garden as the sun sets. The luminaries will have messages on them from staff and from the community. Messages might express gratitude, remembrance, or a message of hope for the future. Together, in this serene setting, healthcare workers will reflect on these messages and share thoughts of hope and healing.
The Luminary Reflection is scheduled so that many healthcare workers can experience the installation by walking through and observing from the windows above. The event will also include music, shared stories from the pandemic, a luminary procession, and remarks from Mount Nittany Health leadership.
Luminary bags are available throughout the community to collect thoughts of gratitude from those outside of the organization.
