Mount Nittany Health teamed up with the State College Spikes and raised almost $4,000 for breast cancer awareness and to honor breast cancer survivors at the annual Paint the Park Pink event on July 29, 2023.

"Paint the Park Pink is a great opportunity to recognize those impacted by breast cancer and to honor breast cancer survivors," said Allison Yingling, MD, Breast Radiology, Mount Nittany Health. "Our community can rely on Mount Nittany Health for exceptional care, comprehensive cancer services, and a compassionate focus. We’re very grateful for our staff and clinical support coordinator who always go above and beyond to support patients through the emotional journey of a breast cancer diagnosis."

One-half of the world’s population is women. One in eight women will have breast cancer, and early screening is critical. Mount Nittany Health’s Breast Care Center is led by dedicated breast imagers, who, after five years of radiology residency, completed an extra year of training specifically focused on breast imaging, making them super specialized in interpreting mammograms, breast ultrasounds, and MRIs.

As part of the Paint the Park Pink event, Mount Nittany Health employees provided health and wellness information and games to help educate the community. Angelique Cygan, Cancer Navigator, and Kennita Burns-Johnson, DO, General Surgery, Mount Nittany Health, also provided pre-game and in-game radio commentary to build breast cancer awareness among the community and to honor the survivors.

A special thank you to Tammy Miller, breast cancer survivor, and her grandson, Andrew, who threw out the first pitch on Miller’s behalf.
