Mount Nittany Health is pleased to announce the addition of interventional cardiologist, Shyama Wickramaaratchi, DO, FACC, FACOI, to Mount Nittany Physician Group Cardiology.
“There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing a critically ill patient return to good health,” she says. “I treat each patient as if they are my own personal family member, and helping them achieve better health is so fulfilling.”
Dr. Wickramaaratchi, or “Dr. Wicki,” earned her bachelor’s degree in economics, with honors, from Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia, where she was a member of Omicron Delta Epsilon International Honor Society for Economics. She earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine in Old Westbury, New York. Dr. Wickramaaratchi completed her residency in internal medicine at Broward Health Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She completed her cardiology fellowship at Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira, New York, and her interventional cardiology fellowship at Franciscan Health Olympia Fields in Olympia Fields, Illinois.
Dr. Wickramaaratchi is board certified in internal medicine and cardiology by the American College of Osteopathic Internal Medicine. She is also board certified in echocardiography. She is a fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Internists and the American College of Cardiology. Dr. Wickramaaratchi is fluent in both oral and written Spanish.
“When I met the cohesive, sincere group of cardiology professionals at Mount Nittany Physician Group, it was obvious to me how dedicated they are to this community and to our patients,” says Dr. Wickramaaratchi. “I immediately knew I wanted to be part of that.”
Outside of the office, Dr. Wickramaaratchi enjoys cooking, baking and hiking with her husband.
