Philip and Judith Sieg Pledge $500,000 to The Foundation for Mount Nittany Medical Center's Commitment to Distinction Campaign

The Foundation for Mount Nittany Medical Center has announced a $500,000 pledge from Philip and Judith Sieg to Commitment to Distinction: The Campaign for Mount Nittany Medical Center. The gift will create the Sieg Neurophysiology Center, a multidisciplinary center designed to engage medical professionals in the study, discussion and treatment options for people in our region with diseases and disorders of the nervous system.
While members of The Foundation board of directors and its Campaign Steering Committee, the Siegs are also broadly involved in national and local service as advisors, volunteers and philanthropists. They have also supported Penn State University through the formation of endowments for programs such as the University Libraries and Athletics and faculty fellowships. As a 1957 business and administration graduate of Penn State University, Philip Sieg was named an Alumni Fellow in 1988 and a Distinguished Alumnus, Penn State’s highest honor, in 1993.
Before starting the real estate-oriented Sieg Financial Group, Sieg and a partner formed Federated Home & Mortgage Co. in 1959 to build single-family homes and apartment complexes in State College. They soon began to develop and manage a chain of Holiday Inns in Pennsylvania and three other states, and conceived and created Toftrees, Pennsylvania’s first planned community.
The Foundation for Mount Nittany Medical Center’s recently reached its goal of $12.5 million for Commitment to Distinction: The Campaign for Mount Nittany Medical Center. The campaign helped to fund a new three-floor, 42,000-square-foot build-up of the hospital’s existing East Wing. The expansion will provide two inpatient floors and one intensive care floor to create forty-seven single-patient rooms and increase intensive care and progressive care bed capacity. Commitment to Distinction is led by The Foundation for Mount Nittany Medical Center under the direction of the board of The Foundation and its Steering Committee.
