New Emergency Department Video on Website

The Mount Nittany Medical Center has added crucial new information about its emergency services, resources and staff to the Medical Center’s website. On the Emergency Department Web page, visitors can access informative articles on healthcare topics, and learn about staff credentials and advanced training in cardiac and trauma life support. New to the site is the emergency department video “Inside the ER;” taking users on a behind-the-scenes tour of the emergency department.

The website also provides information on the Basic Care Center, the Emergency Department’s walk-in, urgent care area that treats routine illnesses such as sore throat, fever and urinary tract infection, and injuries such as sprains or possible fractures. The basic care area is available to area residents who are ill or injured and need immediate attention, and their primary care is unavailable.

“At this time of year when cold and flu symptoms are prevalent, we want to reinforce our visiting policy that suggests limiting the number of people accompanying a patient to just one," advises Theodore Ziff, MD, medical director of the emergency department.

"Bringing non-patient visitors -- particularly children or the elderly -- into the waiting room can needlessly expose them to more germs, possibly increasing their risk of illness.“

The Mount Nittany Medical Center Emergency Department is open 24-hours a day, 7 days a week. The Basic Care area is open Friday through Monday from 10:30 a.m. to midnight, and Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 11 a.m. to midnight.
