Mount Nittany Health to hold a “Know Your Stats” event

Mount Nittany Health, in conjunction with the American Urological Association and the National Football League, is encouraging men to "Know Your Stats About Prostate Cancer" through a free "tailgate" event to be held at Mount Nittany Medical Center.

Howard Miller, MD, urologist, Mount Nittany Physician Group, will speak at the event on Monday, October 22, at 6:30 pm in the Galen and Nancy Dreibelbis Auditorium, located at 1800 E. Park Ave., State College. Healthy tailgating food will be provided.

"As a urologist, I welcome this opportunity to discuss something that could be vitally important to men's health in a comfortable, interactive atmosphere. I hope to provide important information and to answer any questions," said Dr. Miller.

Prostate cancer is the most common non-skin cancer in America, affecting one in six men, with the risk increasing as they age. It is the most common cause of death from cancer in men over age 75.

"It is important to be aware of your personal risk and the actions you can take. While prostate cancer is more common in older men, African American men, and those with a family history, it is recommended that all men 40 years of age and older speak to a physician about whether prostate cancer screening is right from them," said Dr. Miller.
