Free cancer screening for under- and uninsured

Mount Nittany Health will offer a free skin cancer screening event on Saturday, June 24 for community members who are un- or under-insured.

Skin cancer is the most common of all cancers in the United States and chronic disease, such as cancer (melanoma in particular), was identified as a priority area by Mount Nittany Health’s 2016-2019 community health needs assessment.

Symptoms of skin cancer may include, but are not limited to**:

  • A flesh-colored, pearl-like bump or a pinkish patch of skin.
  • Red firm bump, scaly patch, or a sore that heals and re-opens.
  • A mole that has irregular borders, varying colors, is changing, or is larger than the size of a pencil eraser.
