Annual Golf Classic Tees Up for Commitment to Distinction Campaign

EVENT: The Foundation for Mount Nittany Medical Center will hold its 19th annual Golf Classic. Unique to the Golf Classic is the car/truck or $10,000 grand prize giveaway. One lucky registered golfer will walk away with the grand prize! Last year’s winner was John Berresford, who chose the $10,000 cash option. The reception and awards dinner will immediately follow the golf tournament. Men and women golfers of all skill levels are welcome.

Each registered golfer receives lunch, sponsored by Subway, and dinner, sponsored by CA Curtze Company, as well as on-course refreshments and a golfer gift, sponsored by Centre Medical and Surgical Associates, PC.

This year, the Golf Committee is a significant part of a distinct giving opportunity at the Medical Center. Funds raised from this year’s tournament and the next three years of the tournament will go toward the newly announced Commitment to Distinction: The Campaign for Mount Nittany Medical Center. The most ambitious fundraising campaign in the Medical Center’s history, the campaign aims to help support the three-floor expansion of the East Wing and the continued growth of the Medical Center’s cancer program. In 2008, the Golf Committee made a 5-year pledge to the campaign, promising the proceeds from the events to advance cancer care at the Medical Center.

WHEN: Saturday, August 15, 2009 Shotgun start at 11:00 a.m.

WHERE: Penn State Blue and White Golf Courses1523 West College Avenue, State College, Pa.

Every year, The Foundation’s Golf Classic Committee, founded in 1991, plans and organizes the Golf Classic. The tournament has raised more than $1 million to advance the programs and services at Mount Nittany Medical Center.
