One of the first friendly faces new Mount Nittany Health employees encounter is Jan McKenna, BSN, RN, who conducts the initial health screening. Her warm demeanor and caring spirit provide a wonderful introduction to our organization. For this reason and so many others, Mount Nittany Health was pleased to celebrate Jan as one of its Employees of the Month.

No matter how busy she is, Jan takes time to listen to all employees and puts the needs of others before her own. She goes above and beyond in everything she does. New and current employees always comment on how kind, compassionate, and welcoming Jan is. She strives for excellence and it shows each day.
Jan resides in State College, Pennsylvania, and received a Bachelor of Science in nursing from Penn State’s School of Nursing. Mount Nittany Health has been fortunate to have her as a registered nurse (RN) for more than 41 years. Jan currently serves Mount Nittany Health’s Employee Health Department; previously she provided exceptional care as a registered nurse in both the Medical Oncology and Critical Care Units.
When asked what she enjoys most about her job, Jan explained that she appreciates meeting all employees, in all departments, as they begin their new careers. She noted how honored she was to receive this prestigious award: “I am grateful and humbled to be chosen Employee of the Month,” said Jan. “I am lucky to work with great people, who support each other and feel like my second family.”
