Urine Drug Testing
To ensure full reliability and accuracy, Mount Nittany Physician Group contracts with the Department of Health and Human Services NIDA certified reference laboratory, Quest Diagnostics Laboratories, for urine drug testing. Our specimen collection practices comply with the Scientific and Technical Guidelines for Federal Drug Testing Program, including facilities requirements, collection procedures, collection control and transportation to the laboratory.
The standard Department of Transportation urine drug screen will test for five common substances of abuse: marijuana metabolites, PCP (phencyclidine), amphetamines, cocaine and opiates. All positive tests are confirmed by additional testing at no charge to the client.
Mount Nittany Physician Group Occupational Health can also provide urine collection/chain-of-custody services only (without drug analysis) for those companies who have contracted with a reference laboratory for testing.
Testing for large groups of employees may be coordinated at the work site in some cases.
Breath Alcohol Testing
Our evidential breath testing service has been operational since 1995. Our equipment meets the model specifications determined by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and is listed on the Conforming Products List (CPL). Our personnel and procedures comply with all requirements of the Department of Transportation.
There is an additional charge for confirmation of a positive screening result.
While we can perform post-accident and reasonable suspicion screening after hours, routine screening (random, return to duty) is only scheduled during regular business hours. Evidential breath testing is performed Monday through Friday, from 7:30 am to 5:00 pm.
Post-Accident and Reasonable Suspicion Testing
We have after-hours screening services available for post-accident and reasonable suspicion breath alcohol testing. During most shifts, on most days of the week (including Saturday and Sunday), we will be able to perform testing. This testing may be done through the Medical Center's Emergency Department (ED).
A form is available through our office which, when completed and signed by a company representative, will be placed in the ED. This form provides our ED staff with specific instructions regarding your company's needs and authorized testing. Please contact our office if interested, and we will send you a form.
Additionally, we suggest that all injured and post-accident/reasonable suspicion employees coming to the Medical Center for evaluation bring a signed copy with them indicating the services requested. If you have any questions about this form, please do not hesitate to call our office at 814.231.7094.
Companies that utilize our facility for their routine, pre-employment drug and alcohol testing will benefit by receiving the preferred pricing for all their post-accident, random and reasonable suspicion testing. However, clients that elect to utilize our facility for post-accident and reasonable suspicion testing only will be required to pay non-client fees.
