Mount Nittany Health is pleased to announce that Mount Nittany Medical Center’s Cardiac Imaging Department recently received echocardiography reaccreditation from the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC).

Based on data from the American Heart Association, someone dies of a cardiovascular disease every 37 seconds, making it one of the leading causes of death in the United States each year. Early detection of life threatening heart conditions and cardiovascular diseases is possible through the use of echocardiography procedures performed by experienced medical professionals in hospitals and outpatient centers.

Accreditation by the IAC means that Mount Nittany Medical Center Cardiac Imaging Department has undergone a comprehensive review of its operational and technical components by a panel of experts. The IAC only awards accreditation to facilities that provide quality patient care in compliance with national standards through an intensive application process and detailed case study review. IAC accreditation is an accolade that patients can rely on as an indicator of consistent quality care and a commitment to continuous improvement. It is widely respected in the medical community, as illustrated by the support of the national medical societies related to echocardiography, which include physicians and sonographers.

We would like to applaud Mount Nittany Medical Center’s Cardiac Imaging Department for their ongoing commitment to providing quality patient care in the field of echocardiography. Congratulations on receiving this tremendous honor and thank you for all you do for our patients, and for contributing to our organizational mission “Healthier people, stronger community.”
