Inpatient Care
Admission
Your physician will arrange for your admission through the Admissions Office. Feel free to bring your personal clothing and toiletries, but leave valuables and medications at home.
You will be assigned a room based on your needs and gender. Trained nurses and staff will provide your routine care. Your physician or hospitalist will see you in your room. Diagnostics will be performed at the Medical Center.
Televisions
Cable television is available in most patient rooms free of charge, compliments of the Medical Center. Closed captioning is also available upon request.
Food & Nutrition Services
All patients who are on solid foods may choose from menu selections planned by a Registered Dietitian. Nutritional counseling is provided to patients on modified diets and as requested by a physician or nurse. Outpatient diet counseling on a scheduled basis is available for a fee. Free Care
Free care is available to those eligible people who cannot pay their Medical Center bill. For more information, call the Business Office at 814.234.6171 or toll-free at 866.686.6171.
Hearing & Speech Impaired Services
Persons with hearing and speech impairments may reach the emergency department through special TT (Text Telephone) equipment by calling TT 234.2207. Other assistive devices for both patients and visitors are available. Please request information from Patient Registration or the Patient Representative at 814.234.6706.
The Pennsylvania Telecommunications Relay Service (TRS) allows people with speech and hearing disabilities to use typewriter-like machines to communicate with anyone by telephone. TRS is available 24 hours a day. TT users can call 800.654.5984. People who want to reach a TT user can call TRS at 800.654.5988.
The Patient Representative assists patients and families by answering questions or solving problems within the Medical Center so that your stay with us can be as comfortable as possible. For more information, call 814.234.6706.
Smoking
Mount Nittany Medical Center is a smoke-free environment. There is no smoking permitted at any place within the Medical Center. Designated smoking areas are available outside.
Social Services
The Medical Center has professionals available to assist in the arrangement of post-hospital care, as well as to provide valuable resource information and counseling to patients and their families. For more information, call 814.234.6153.
