Managing Diabetes: The Next Step

Community

| Mount Nittany Medical Center

Roger Baird, a specially trained member of the A1C Champions Program, will lead the program and share why insulin is not a sign of failure, the concerns he had before starting insulin as well as common misperceptions about insulin.

Diabetes is a chronic, widespread condition characterized by high blood sugar in which the body does not produce or properly use insulin, the hormone needed to transport glucose from the blood into the cells of the body for energy. It is estimated that nearly 26 million Americans have diabetes, including an estimated 7 million who remain undiagnosed.

Baird himself has diabetes and takes insulin as part of his overall diabetes treatment plan. He knows first-hand the challenges to managing diabetes and understands the fear and uncertainty about taking insulin.

The program will be held in Conference Rooms 2 & 3 at Mount Nittany Medical Center, 1800 East Park Ave., State College, Pa. For more information, call Amy Leffard at 814.231.7095.
