Contacting the Diabetes Team for Problems

Medical Emergencies: Call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.
Non-emergency matters: Call our main office at 814.234.8800.

We are living in the middle of a diabetes epidemic. We strive to help as many patients with diabetes as we can and to do so we ask each patient’s primary doctor to help as much as possible. If you are doing well, we may ask you to come back to see us only if you have a problem, and to work with your primary doctor in the meantime. Remember, however, that we are always here to back you up, even if we had not seen you for a number of years.

What to do if you want our help between appointments:

  • Visit our diabetes section of our website for all kinds of information on diabetes care.
  • But if you just want help, please call our main number 814.234.8800 and ask to speak to the telephone nurses. Do not try to make an appointment through the appointment secretaries with the diabetes team, because you may be told there are none for weeks or even months. The telephone nurses will take down information about your problem and will send your request to the diabetes nurse, who will be in touch with you to discuss your problem. If needed the nurse can also help you get an appointment with someone on the diabetes team, usually even the next day if the problem is urgent.
