Respiratory Services provides the latest technology and best practice treatments in respiratory care for inpatients and outpatients. Skilled respiratory therapists and pulmonologists provide diagnostic testing, education and therapy for patients with chronic and acute respiratory problems.
With a written physician prescription and therapist-driven protocols, a fully equipped pulmonary function laboratory performs pulmonary physiologic exercise tests, altitude simulations and indirect calorimetry for monitoring patients on supplemental nutrition.
Physician referral required.
Pulmonary Rehab
For patients with chronic pulmonary disease — such as chronic obstruction pulmonary disease (COPD), emphysema and chronic bronchitis — we offer a 12-week program that is custom-designed to combat the progression of lung disease, relieve symptoms and improve quality of life. Since the lungs provide the body with oxygen, patients often find it difficult to complete everyday tasks and activities, becoming tired and short of breath quickly. The goal of the program is to address these critical issues and provide practical remedies to increase patient strength and endurance.
After initial assessment and diagnostic testing, an individualized plan of treatment will be designed for the patient. Three days a week, a multidisciplinary team consisting of a pulmonologist, respiratory therapist, registered dietitian and physical therapist with provide therapy. Reports will be provided to the patient's referring physician.
The Medical Director for this program is John B. Cox, MD. Physician referral is required. For more information, call the respiratory therapy department at 814.234.6168.
