Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills are essential. Knowledge of physician office procedures, medical terminology, ICD-9 and CPT coding guidelines, grammar and spelling. Familiarity with all applicable medical laws and regulations regarding dissemination of patient information and medical coding. Working knowledge of office equipment such as copiers, fax machines, telephones and computers. Ability to speak clearly and communicate effectively and to read, understand and follow written and verbal instructions. Ability to record messages and patient data accurately. Ability to prioritize, identify problems and recommend solutions. High School diploma or equivalent. Bachelor’s degree or Completion of a Medical Office Professional program preferred. Certified Professional Coder, preferred. Three years experience in a medical office setting or educational equivalent. A minimum of (1) year of relevant work experience is required. Other requirements include the use of mail merge functions; data entry and filing, knowledge of various software programs including MS Work, Excel, and Access. Knowledge of medical terminology is required.
Perform various analytical, administrative and operational activities to support the Division. The position acts independently in the completion of a variety of projects, quality initiatives, and operational activities. Will provide counsel to patients regarding third party reimbursement for medications and equipment, interface with 3rd party payers to initiate authorization for services, and will be a resource to providers related to procedure and diagnosis coding for services rendered. Support development and extension of diabetes care delivery models across health system.
Day shift; Monday - Friday
No weekends; No holidays
