1 year current cath lab experience preferred. ~ High School graduate or its equivalent. ~At least two years of post-secondary healthcare education and experience in a technical patient care field. ~Preferred competency in cardiac monitorinerhythm analysis and venous access skills. ~Displays confidence in own job performance. ~Adheres to philosophy of Performance Improvement and participates as requested. ~Evidences customer service commitment in performance of job duties. ~Remains calm in changing work situations. ~Adapts to changes in routine and schedule. ~Accepts additional responsibilities when assigned. ~Consistently exhibits positive daily work attitude. ~Must demonstrate the ability to work with patients' families who are often under physical and/or emotional stress. Must have ability to work cooperatively with other personnel in the department and in other areas of the Medical Center. ~Demonstrates basic skills to achieve successful conflict resolution, based on Mount Nittany Medical Center Policy # 1037, Conflict Resolution. ~Meets the American Heart Association’s standards for Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) and renews BLS every two years. ~Meets the American Heart Association’s standards for Advanced Cardiac Healthcare Provider Life Support (ACLS) and renews ACLS every two years. ~If incumbent does not currently hold Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) credential through Cardiovascular Credentialing International, must at time of hire or transfer meet requisite eligibility requirements to sit for RCIS credentialing examination. For current eligibility requirements to sit for RCIS examination, please refer to CCI website at www.cci-online.org. ~If incumbent does not have active Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) credential through Cardiovascular Credentialing International at time of hire or transfer, must obtain RCIS credential within one year of hire or transfer.
Position is directly involved in the daily operation of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory under the direction of the Unit Nurse Manager. Assumes responsibility for following roles during procedures performed in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory: patient preparation prior to procedure; assist physician in the sterile field (scrub); monitor and document patient hemodynamics; circulate (with successful completion of Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory Medication Administration Competency); monitor patient receiving moderate sedation (with current Advanced Cardiac Life Support status); and patient recovery post-procedure. Is involved in maintaining supply inventory and equipment. Serves as technical resource for co-workers. Participates in orientation of new staff. Participates in reporting of procedural data to benchmarking, regulatory, or accreditation agency (ies), as required. Participates with all team members to achieve optimal patient outcomes. Participates in on-call rotation for emergency procedures outside normal operating hours. May be required to "float' to other departments or Nursing units, as Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory workload and competencies permit. May be required to function in Endovascular Service for vascular procedures or device implants, in roles consistent with those performed during procedures in Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory.
Day shift; 10 hr shifts; On call requirements; internal and external recruitement will occur simultaneously.
