Minimum Qualifications
Graduate of accredited Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner programs. State of Pennsylvania Registered Nurse license. Registered Nurse Practitioner Certification. CPR certification. Three years of professional nursing experience in a clinical setting and two years of nurse practitioner experience preferred. Knowledge of professional nursing theory, medical practice and care protocols, assessing patient health, administration of medications and delivering care following a treatment plan. Knowledge of physician office procedures, medical terminology, ICD-9 and CPT coding guidelines. Knowledge of organizational policies, regulations, procedures, prescribed medical standards and common safety hazards and precautions. Skill in applying and modifying principles, methods and techniques of medicine to provide on-going patient care. Skill in gathering and analyzing patient data and interpreting findings. Skill in preparing and maintaining records utilizing computer software. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
Primary Duties
Provide primary care or specialty care services to patients including performing assessments, diagnoses and prescriptions of medical therapeutic corrective measures in collaboration with a physician in all clinical venues. Perform complete physical examinations, obtain patient’s medical history and record findings. Interpret and integrate data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures needed. Order appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures and interpret and integrate determine preliminary diagnostic and therapeutic plan. Perform patient care by administering injections, immunizations and oral medications in compliance with applicable laws/guidelines and suturing wounds. Document patient information, test and examination results and care provided in the patient’s paper or electronic health record. Triage patient telephone calls and provide consultation. Provide instructions to patients/families regarding medications and treatments. Provide monitoring and continuity of care between patient visits. Advise patients regarding health and illness prevention and recommend community resources to meet patient and family needs if applicable. Collaborate with physicians in managing acute and long-term medical needs of patients. Using the Electronic Health Record, document and bill for services rendered.
Schedule
Rotation with other department mid-level providers on a weekly basis for hospital and office. Assist in surgery including robotics. First call 7AM-5PM, Monday through Friday. Department - Urology/General Surgery
