Visitation Restrictions Lifted, Medical Center Asks for Common Sense When Visiting

As the healthcare leader for the region, Mount Nittany Medical Center has taken an active role in preventing H1N1 and caring for those with the flu. In October, temporary restrictions were added to the visiting guidelines to further protect patients and healthcare providers from H1N1 and seasonal influenza. The Medical Center is lifting those restrictions, but continues to encourage a common-sense approach when visiting at the Medical Center. Visiting Guidelines at Mount Nittany Medical Center are as follows:•General visiting hours are from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm, certain departments have modified visiting hours, please check the www.mountnittany.org for a complete list of department visiting hours•No visitors with signs or symptoms of cold or flu•To protect our newborns and their families, the baby’s siblings are the only children permitted to visit a mother’s room•Quiet time is from 1:00 – 3:00 pm on the Women’s and Children’s Unit, please respect the families’ wishes to keep this time for family only“At Mount Nittany Medical Center, we value the role that friends and family provide in the healing process,” said Janet Schachtner, RN, MSN, chief nursing officer, and senior vice president, patient care services. “Although, we have lifted the restriction, it is still very important for the community to consider the health and safety of all our patients when coming to the Medical Center.
