The Foundation for Mount Nittany Medical Center announced that it reached its goal of raising $12.5 million for Commitment to Distinction: The Campaign for Mount Nittany Medical Center. The success was announced before more than 200 guests at the President’s Lounge at Beaver Stadium on Thursday, December 3. The cornerstone of the Commitment to Distinction Campaign is a new three-floor, 42,000-square-foot build-up of the existing East Wing at the Medical Center. The addition of two inpatient floors and one intensive care floor will offer forty-seven single-patient rooms and increase intensive care bed capacity. The campaign will also largely helped to support the construction of a comprehensive cancer facility on the campus of Mount Nittany Medical Center scheduled to break ground in the spring of 2010. “This campaign was about connecting our Medical Center with people who are inspired to see this place grow to be the healthcare destination that they know it can become,” said Kim Neely, director, The Foundation for Mount Nittany Medical Center. “We are truly grateful to all who were committed to moving life forward by giving their time, talents and gifts to Mount Nittany Medical Center.” Led by campaign chair, Jonathan Dranov, MD, the steering committee kicked off the campaign in June 2008 with honorary campaign co-chairs, Joseph and Suzanne Paterno. Members of the steering committee include David Arbutina, MD; Edward Book; Thomas Brown; Rev. George Burn; Mimi Barash Coppersmith; Richard Dixon, MD; John Dutton, PhD; Donna Fick, PhD; APRN-BC, FGSA; Donald Hamer; Lloyd and Dorothy Huck; Rodney Kirsch; Eileen Leibowitz; John Mandryk, CFP, CIMA; John McQueary; Barbara Palmer; Charles Rohrbeck, MD; Gary Schult; Wayne Sebastianelli, MD; Karen Shute, CLU, ChFC, CFP; Sara Songer, MSN, RNC; Robert Szeyller; Thomas Taricani, CPA/ABV, CVA; Gary Weber, PhD; the late William Welch; and Richard Wisniewski, CPA.
