Stephen Barnes, MD, is New Medical Director at Mount Nittany Center for Wound Care

Mount Nittany Medical Center is pleased to announce the addition of Stephen Barnes, MD, as medical director of Mount Nittany Center for Wound Care located at 120 Radnor Road, State College. Barnes has been on the active staff of the Medical Center since 1983 and was formerly a staff physician with Centre Medical and Surgical Associates, P.C.

As Medical Director, Dr. Barnes will oversee the professional staff and services of the Center for Wound Care, which treats patients who have a wound that has not started to heal in four weeks or is not completely healed in eight weeks. The Center utilizes up-to-date approaches that have proven to be highly effective in the wound-healing process, including hyperbaric oxygen therapy. Wound management is designed to complement the care of the primary care physician who helps treat the causes of the wound; the Center focuses on a tailored treatment plan based on understanding the type of wound treated and the overall assessment of the patient.

Dr. Barnes received his medical degree from The Pennsylvania State University, College of Medicine in 1977. He is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and licensed by the State of Pennsylvania. He resides in State College.

The Foundation’s 21st Annual Golf Tournament raised $150,000 for the new Cancer Center.
