Spring into sports safely
Wear a well-fitting helmet as necessary while engaging in sports to protect yourself from a head injury. This week, observe Brain Awareness Week by knowing the symptoms of a head injury so you can get the proper care:
- Loss of consciousness, or being dazed, confused or disoriented
- Head and neck pain
- Nausea or vomiting
- Lack of coordination
- Memory or concentration problems
- Slurred speech
- Seek emergency medical care if you experience these symptoms after an injury to the head. Even if you do not have any symptoms, closely watch for any problems over the next 24 hours.
