Penn State Hershey medical student profile - Amanda Moyer

Editor's note: Each month, Mount Nittany Health will feature a profile on each of the 13 third-year Penn State Hershey medical students.

Amanda Moyer grew up in Woodstock, NY, and studied biochemistry and biophysics at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY.

After graduation, Amanda worked at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Md., for a year before starting medical school at Penn State College of Medicine.

Amanda's attraction to the regional campus is the focus on community-based medicine and her desire to help eliminate our country's health disparities.

"I ultimately see myself living and working in a place like State College," said Moyer. "I had the opportunity to attend medical school in large cities such as Boston and Miami, but decided I want to learn medicine in the same environment where I will practice it in the future."

The Foundation’s 21st Annual Golf Tournament raised $150,000 for the new Cancer Center.
