Mount Nittany Health Center for Wound Care receives two awards for outstanding clinical outcomes

Mount Nittany Health Center for Wound Care was recently honored with two awards: 2011 Center of Distinction and Dr. Robert A. Warriner III, MD Center of Excellence Award.

"The standards for the awards included a 91 percent healing rate in 30 median days to heal and a 92 percent patient satisfaction rate," according to Debra McNally, senior vice president of Healogics, the company that bestowed the awards.

The Robert A. Warriner III, MD award is in recognition of the Center for Wound Care receiving the Center of Distinction award for two consecutive years.

"Because Mount Nittany Health saw the need for specialized wound care, this center is providing an important and successful service to hundreds of patients," said McNally. In 2011, 663 patients had 5,994 visits, she said.

"With an aging population, many people suffer from chronic diseases such as diabetes, arterial and venous disease, and other conditions that lead to non-healing wounds, and we are here to address the need for this care," according to Maria Dawson, MHA, administrative director, Center for Wound Care.

"We are proud to be one of 57 such centers, out of 525 in the United States, to receive the Center of Distinction award," said Dawson, adding, "The Center for Wound Care is successful because of great teamwork among the nurses, physicians, and hospital administration."

The Foundation’s 21st Annual Golf Tournament raised $150,000 for the new Cancer Center.
