May is National Stroke Awareness Month – Stroke: Myths and Facts

  • Strokes are preventable. Talk to your physician about your risk factors and ways to reduce the chance of stroke.
  • Strokes can be treated and not all are life threatening, but every second counts.
  • Call 911 if you experience sudden numbness or weakness, confusion, or trouble seeing or speaking.
  • Women sometimes have unique symptoms such as sudden face or a limb pain, nausea or hiccups.
  • Always get checked to be safe.
