Every 40 seconds someone in the world dies by suicide, changing the lives of his or her friends and families forever.
On Saturday, Nov. 23, recognized as International Survivors of Suicide Day, thousands of survivors of suicide loss will gather together around the world for mutual support and practical guidance on coping with the grief.
If you or someone you know has lost a friend or family member to suicide, please plan to join us in the Trustee’s Conference Room at Mount Nittany Medical Center beginning at noon on Saturday, Nov. 23.
We have a special event planned, consisting of an opening ceremony at 12:30 pm, listening to a broadcast from the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention from 1:00 to 2:30 pm, and a closing ceremony. We’ll also be making ornaments in honor of your loved ones.
Free parking is available in the Medical Center parking lots C, D, and E. Please enter the Medical Center through entrance D, and then follow the signs to the Trustee’s Conference Room, ground floor.
The event is free and walk-ins are welcome, but pre-registration is encouraged. For more information or to register, call Tina Kephart, RN-BC, director, behavioral health unit, Mount Nittany Medical Center, at 814.234.6155.
