Foundation for Mount Nittany Medical Center Announces Pastoral Care Fund

The Foundation for Mount Nittany Medical Center recently announced the creation of the Reverends George A. Burn and Paula Curtis-Burn Pastoral Care Fund. The endowment will provide dependable, yet flexible income for pastoral care services at the Medical Center, and will encourage additional gifts focused on strengthening these important services at the Medical Center.

"This fund honors the commitment the Burns have made to the Medical Center and to our patients," said Thomas J. Murray, FACHE, president and chief executive officer at Mount Nittany Medical Center. "Spiritual care is an important part of a patient's healing. This fund will enhance that service by providing opportunities for education and spiritual support services."

The fund was named in honor of the recently retired Rev. George A. Burn and his wife, the Rev. Paula Curtis-Burn. George Burn, director of pastoral care at the Medical Center, retired in December 2008 after dedicating his 35-year career to pastoral care and ministry. In June 2009, he will be presented with the Institutional Chaplain Merit Award from American Baptist Churches USA.

The Foundation’s 21st Annual Golf Tournament raised $150,000 for the new Cancer Center.
