Food safety on Memorial Day

Memorial Day is known for people gathering together and enjoying a variety of ever-popular picnic foods. It is crucial to practice food-safety habits, such as:

  • Keep meats and other foods separate during preparation
  • Fully cook all meat and seafood to the correct temperature
  • Use a clean plate to serve food after cooking
  • Rinse all fruits and vegetables
  • Remember: Hot foods should stay hot and cold foods should stay cold
  • Do not share cups, plates or utensils with others
  • Have hand sanitizer available
