Chief operating officer announced for Mount Nittany Physician Group

Jim Prowant, MS, CMPE, chief operating officer, Mount Nittany Physician Group

Mount Nittany Health is pleased to announce the hiring of Jim Prowant, MS, CMPE, as the chief operating officer for Mount Nittany Physician Group.

Prowant, originally from Lewisburg, holds a master’s degree in healthcare administration and a bachelor’s degree in biology from The Pennsylvania State University. He is also a certified medical practice executive through the American College of Medical Practice Executives.

With more than 35 years in the healthcare industry, Prowant brings a wide range of experience and knowledge to the position from both large and small medical centers. Most recently, Prowant worked as the vice president for primary care operations at Lehigh Valley Physician Group, a subsidiary of Lehigh Valley Health Network. Prowant has also worked in administrative roles at Ephrata Community Hospital in Ephrata, Pa.; Lombardi Cancer Center at Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington, D.C.; and Susquehanna Health in Muncy, Pa.; among other locations.

In his new role with Mount Nittany Physician Group, Prowant will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of a growing, multispecialty physician group with more than 120 providers in 15 locations across the region.

In his free time, Prowant enjoys spending time with his wife, Jean, and daughters Emily, 20, and Elizabeth, 19.

The Foundation’s 21st Annual Golf Tournament raised $150,000 for the new Cancer Center.
