Breathe easy for healthy lungs

  • Take the stairs! Walking about 15 minutes at a time, three to four times a day, can improve breathing.
  • Get at least seven servings of fruits and vegetables a day for a high amount of antioxidants (vitamin C, E, selenium and beta-carotene).
  • Breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth. Your nasal passages are designed to filter the air and regulate its temperature and humidity.
  • Work in 10-20 crunches a day. By strengthening your abdominal and chest muscles, you're also practicing deep breathing.
