August is Children’s Eye Health and Safety Month

  • Vision problems affect one in 20 preschoolers.
  • Early detection of eye problems can prevent learning disabilities and permanent vision loss.
  • Vision testing should be conducted for all children, starting at age three.
  • A child’s eyes can be severely injured by toys with sharp, protruding or projectile parts, so make sure that toys are age-appropriate.
