Are You at Risk for Diabetes or Do You Have Diabetes? Learn How the Mount Nittany Diabetes Network Can Help You

Diabetes can affect anyone. Do you know if you are at risk? There are many risk factors: being 45 or older, being overweight (with a BMI of 25 or higher), having a family history of diabetes, or having high blood pressure, among others. A key component of diabetes prevention and management is knowing if you are at risk or already have diabetes.

Mount Nittany Diabetes Network, established by Mount Nittany Medical Center in 2010, is active in providing community members with the needed resources to prevent, or delay the onset of diabetes, promote the early diagnosis of the disease, and improve diabetes management and outcomes in the region.

Within its first year, the Diabetes Network connected with two school systems and several other community organizations to supply them with the tools to promote diabetes prevention and management.

Members of the Mount Nittany Diabetes Network also lead a monthly support group that meets at Mount Nittany Medical Center. Mount Nittany Health System has a multidisciplinary team of clinicians in various specialties that provide a full spectrum of services to address all aspects of diabetes.

The Foundation’s 21st Annual Golf Tournament raised $150,000 for the new Cancer Center.
