School of Clinical Laboratory Science

The Mount Nittany Medical Center School of Clinical Laboratory Science provides students with entry-level knowledge of clinical laboratory science, working skills of the profession and critical thinking abilities necessary to translate knowledge into actual performance ability.

The curriculum for this program emphasizes the importance of patient care and the need for cooperation of healthcare professionals in order to deliver optimal patient care.

Program Goals

In order to achieve the mission of the hospital and the school, our program goals are:

  • To provide an atmosphere of integrity, encouragement, respect and open communication that cultivates new learning and promotes professional development.
  • To provide high standards of education to enhance the growth and development of students as clinical laboratory scientists and as individuals.
  • To employ multiple teaching strategies to enhance students' critical thinking skills and to stimulate scientific curiosity and a commitment to lifelong learning.
  • To produce high quality professionals who will meet the present and future needs of the healthcare community, particularly in the laboratory science field.
