Veeral Patel, MD, began his career at Mount Nittany Health in August 2015, following the completion of his residency at The State University of New York (SUNY) Upstate Medical University in Syracuse. He is committed to excellence in the development and implementation of treatment plans, and provides compassionate care to all patients.

Dr. Patel has had a significant impact on clinical care at Mount Nittany Health. Since his arrival in 2015, he has worked to develop and expand the capabilities of the Stereotactic Radiosurgery Program in the Department of Radiation Oncology. The Stereotactic Radiosurgery Program at Mount Nittany utilizes cutting edge technology to deliver high doses of radiation therapy safely to treat patients with cancer involving the brain, lung, spine, liver, pancreas, and prostate, among other sites when appropriate. In order to minimize potential side effects during radiation therapy for prostate cancer patients, Dr. Patel started performing ultrasound-guided placement of SpaceOAR Hydrogel between the prostate and rectum which has been shown to reduce long-term rectal complications. His impressive breadth of work includes collaborating with Physics to implement 3D printed blouses within the Medical Center and utilizing artificial intelligence and machine learning for contouring and treatment planning. In addition to his clinical expertise, he exhibits superb rapport with his patients and his colleagues.

Dr. Patel is known for his empathetic approach to patient care, taking the time to listen to his patients’ concerns, ensuring that they receive the best possible treatment. His dedication to his patients is reflected in his willingness to work closely with other healthcare professionals to develop individualized plans that meet the unique needs of each patient. Dr. Patel's commitment to caring extends beyond his patients to their families, who he also supports and guides throughout the treatment process. His efforts have not gone unnoticed, and he has received numerous accolades for his outstanding contributions to the field of radiation oncology.
